One day on my break at work I decided to escape my confinement in a large retail building on New York city’s most expensive avenue, 5th ave. This time was unique from my other breaks as I would be walking the streets of net York without any headphones (which was very difficult for a music lover) to listen to the sounds nested in 5th Avenue. Now, the first sound that came to were the constant blaring of car horns from inpatient drivers once the light turns green, which helps characterizes New York City fast and impatient nature. Once that settled down as I strolled, the sounds of camera shutters going off, chatter and a lot of swift movements were able to be heard in the background as they are keynotes to this area. As I walk through one of New York’s busiest street filled with tourist, workers, shoppers and etc… signal sounds can be heard from the subways (as there is always an announcement of a delay), NYPD signals, fire truck signals are all heard in this jam packed avenue. Finally, as I walk towards Central Park the sound of loud music is heard, which to my finding is coming from a speaker of a group of street dancers. Furthermore, the rambunctious noises begin to fade away as the sound of the breeze leaf bristling, ducks swimming, and squirrels running beg come to me. The contrast is striking, although the sounds of traffic, sirens, construction noises and other loud noises are still able to be heard in the background, as New York City is a city that never quiets down!
One of the most crucial aspect I saw during Kobayashi’s meeting and her performance was the innovation in entertainment. It brought forward a new way to string an audience together and allow them to participate with the show, which I found fairly interesting. Now, the whole concept of “Say Something Bunny” demonstrates the various forms of media and entertainment that hasn’t been exercised or thought of which to myself resonates as creating new forms of entertainment or media is my “go to”. Also, the use of history to the main aspect of the show was interesting as it provides a more in depths and insightful experience for the audience, which also remind myself of the importance of history in my personal work as it creates a story for the audience and in all a stronger experience.
